Organic Saffron

ORGANIC SAFFRON is a spice derived from the flower of Crocus sativus, commonly known as the “Saffron Crocus”.
The stigmas, called threads, are collected and dried to be used mainly as condiments and dyes in food. It is completely collected and handcrafted.

Organic, because it was produced according to the protocol for organic farming and processed with an environmentally friendly process.

The word Saffron stems from the Arabic which means yellow.
This spice has a pleasant aroma reminiscent of honey with slightly bitter heavenly taste.
It is the king of herbs and spices and one of the oldest in the world.
Its use is dated back to 3000 years ago.
The spice saffron is beneficial include an antioxidant, antidepressant and aphrodisiac.

The stigmas are hand picked and very careful because they are very delicate and deliver the best quality.
In Europe, saffron widely used in Spain, where it is an essential ingredient in the Paella.
Saffron is used in Italy in the preparation of Risotto and in Belgium in the preparation of Rice Pudding.

    This product is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

    How can it be used : Saffron stigmas in contrast to the powder requires more processing time, but it is better. To use the stamps must be soaked in water for about 30 minutes. In a small bowl lay the amount pistils you need [max.4 pistils per person], put the water there and finish with and lid or a plate; This is necessary to preserve the aroma and important substances. 1 or 2 saffron stigmas can also be used in herbal teas or citrus infusions

    TIP: Many recipes with Saffron can be found over the internet, the most famous Italian recipe: “Risotto allo Zafferano” [Rice with Saffron].
