ANTICA FATTORIA LA PARRINA History: two centuries or maybe a little more…
Here the land has always been cultivated.
Inserted in a wall of the Parrina are three fragments from an ancient Roman agricultural villa in Maremma.
The true story of the Antica Fattoria La Parrina begins in the first half of the nineteenth century.
Michele Giuntini, noble banker acquired the first nucleus of the ancient Tuscan agricultural villa.
The harvests were abundant, the lands showed great generosity. In the following decades the size and the current diversity of the agricultural heritage of the Maremma emerged.
To properly manage the farm, sharecropping contracts were used, a form of rental in which the sharecroppers were required to share profits and costs.
The spread of mechanization, starting from the end of the 19th century, the strong investments, the diversification, the exploitation of the areas leads to an important development. La Parrina can accommodate up to 460 workers.
After the serious backlash of the Second World War, Fattoria La Parrina regained its original identity, so much so that it was the only farm in the Maremma able to maintain its original vocation for excellence and adapt to the needs of modernity.
