General information about Ansonica grape
Ansonica is an Italian white grape variety, also known as Inzolia (in Sicilian), nzoglia (in Calabrian) or Insolia.
It has southern origins, but is also widespread in other Italian regions such as Tuscany, particularly on the island of Elba, Monte Argentario and Ansonica Costa dell’Argentario D.O.C .
De tros is groot maar met vrij dunne bessen. De oogst vindt plaats rond de eerste helft van september.
Ansonica is the oldest native Sicilian vine and then spread to other Italian regions and in particular to Sardinia, Lazio and southern Tuscany.
The vine is very resistant even in fairly dry climates and has few leaves which means less water absorption is required.
The bunch is conical with two small clusters on the sides and the berry is ovoid with a pronounced yellow colour.
CULTIVATION FORM: Cordone Speronato
The forms of cultivation of the vine are diagrams of the methods of pruning and geometry of the rows.
The winegrower adopts this method to reduce vegetative growth and influence the quality and yield of the grapes.
After that, various crop forms have been selected and improved throughout the history of viticulture in order to obtain greater quantities and better quality of the grapes.
In conclusion this selection took place on the basis of a sort of purpose, such as: wine or fruit grapes.
Here are for an example of cultivation:
CARE OF THE VINEYARD: According to the EU Organic farming protocol.
FERMENTATION takes place under controlled temperature.
REFINING: long refinement on the fine lees, with daily bâtonnage.
AGING PROCESS: It takes place for a very short period in bottle.
White wine ANSONICA DOC is available for both individuals and companies.
